Where is the closest Pay and display parking?

  1. Jellicoe Street Car Park, 140 parks available, 3 minutes flat walk via Jellicoe and Halsey Street. 300 metres from theatre. Entrance off Beaumont Street and Madden Street. The first hour of carparking is free seven days a week. Monday to Saturday every hour thereafter will be $6 per hour to a maximum of four hours. On Sunday and public holidays, every hour thereafter will be $2 per hour to a maximum of four hours.
  2. Hamer Street Car Park, 130 parks available, 5 minutes flat walk via Brigham Street, Jellicoe St and Halsey St. 400 metres from the theatre. Entrance off Hamer Street. The Hamer Street car park is available for Theatre performances and events from 5:45pm on show days Monday to Friday, and from 2 hours prior to the show time on Saturdays and Sundays. The car park closes 30 minutes after the end of the days final performance. The Car Park is attended by our Car Park Concierges. Please note that animals and minors must not be left alone at the car park at any time.

There are several mobility spaces nearby the theatre. All within 5 minutes walking time. However, some have time limits, please use the map as a guide.

  2. Viaduct Event Centre Mobility Parking – 3 Parks Available, No Time Limit. 150 Metres 3 minutes flat walk to ASB Waterfront Theatre.
  3. Corner of Daldy and Madden Street Mobility Parking – 2 parks available, no time limit. 280 metres 5 minutes flat walk to ASB Waterfront Theatre.
  4. Jellicoe Street Mobility Parking – 2 parks available, no time limit. 300 metres 5 minutes flat walk to ASB Waterfront Theatre.
  5. Jellicoe Street Car Park Mobility Parking – 6 parks available, 4 hours. 350 metres 6 minutes flat walk to ASB Waterfront Theatre.

Taxi

Although there is no designated taxi rank in the Wynyard Quarter we contact several taxi companies to provide taxis for collection at the end of the show. These taxi’s wait directly outside the theatre in the 5 minutes loading bay. There is a concierge who can assist patrons in to the taxi. We are also able to contact taxis that have accessible taxis in their fleets with wheelchair hoist operators and that accept customers on the total mobility scheme.

VENUE ACCESSIBILITY


Multiple levels

There are 3 levels including ground floor that are all accessible by lift.

  • A voice announcement with tell you what floor you are going on and which direction you are travelling in. Level 1 is ground floor, level 2 is Stalls, Doors A & B, level 3 is Circle, Doors C & D and Villa Maria Gallery. 

There is level access from the street to the bar, café, toilets, coat check and box office. Level 2 for the Stalls and Level 3 for the Circle and Villa Maria Gallery are all accessible by the lift and are level.

Stalls - The accessible seating in row E of the stalls is all level.  Other rows are accessible by steps. Rows K to P have a hand rail. All other rows have less gradient but no hand rail. A member of staff can offer support if needed.

Circle – All rows are on a rake and accessible by seats. There is a hand rail on both stairs.

There are 3 wheelchair user positions situated in Row E of the stalls. This position is on flat ground and is accessible from the lift and entering through Door A & B. Row E is central in the stalls and has a good view of the stage. We are able to increase the number of wheelchair user positions in the row at request. If you are planning a group visit and have more than three wheelchair users in your group then please speak to our box office. This may not be possible to arrange on the day of the show so advance notice appreciated.

Please note that when booking you should notify the Ticket Office staff if your wheelchair is any larger than a standard seat. If you know the measurements this is very useful. Seats behind row E are on a higher rake.

Those customers who use a wheelchair but who prefer to sit in a standard theatre seat may choose to transfer and store their wheelchair with staff in an agreed place. In the interest of the safety of the person transferring, and the audience as a whole, customers should be able to walk well enough without assistance to evacuate themselves from the venue. In the event of an evacuation the ushers and access assistant would bring the wheelchair to the seat after the main flow of the evacuation and help the customer to safety.


ToiletsLocated on level one in the foyer as part of the main toilet area. Level access from street level. Opposite the entrance doors from Halsey Street, on the right when facing box office. There is a concierge at these entrance doors who can assist you to these toilets on duty during a performance and one hour before the show starts. There are three accessible toilets. One is located in the Men’s toilets, one in the Woman’s toilets and one gender neutral accessible toilet at the entrance to the toilets. There is also an accessible toilet on both the stalls and circle level, but these are located back of house. Please talk to a member of staff if you require quick access to these toilets.

As well as the accessible toilet in the Man’s toilets there is also a lower urinal which is 40cm from the ground.

Assistant dogs are welcome at ASB Waterfront Theatre, please let us know if you are bringing your dog along so we can find a seat that’s comfortable for you and your dog. Stalls are the most suitable for patrons bringing assistance dogs as there are several rows which offer more leg room, each seat has 40cm depth under the seat.

There are also several end of row seats that have space next to them that would be suitable for an access dog. These are E7, E38, F7, F38, G9, G36, H13, H32. The seats are at the end of rows and not directly accessible without passing other seats. However, these positions would offer the least disturbance for the access dog as people will not be passing. Early access to the theatre before the house opens is possible on request.

We are also able to look after your dog during the show and have water provisions for them. There is no designated toileting area for them on site but there is small garden areas outside the theatre on Halsey Street.

Borrowing ASB Waterfront Theatre Wheelchair

  • ASB Waterfront Theatre has a wheelchair available to customers to use for short term loan during events. Specific requests should be directed to the Visitor Services Team

  • For those people who may have a temporary disability (such as a broken leg) we will endeavour to find seating which is most comfortable for you, please speak to the Ticket Office.
